Pogba was left out of the starting XI for the third time in five matches for United's 0-0 Champions League draw against Sevilla earlier this week.

And it is believed Raiola, who counts fellow United stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Romelu Lukaku in his stable of players, took exception to Mourinho's tactics.

It is further reported that there are suggestions Raiola, 50, has been a "disruptive influence" at United's Carrington training ground.

And it is claimed that has led to questions about why the club are still doing business with the Italian, who also has back-up goalkeeper Sergio Romero on his books.

Raiola failed to reply to a request for comment when contacted by the Times yesterday.

The France star missed the FA Cup win over Huddersfield four days before being omitted from the starting XI for the Champions League clash.

Mourinho publicly stated last month that he has a good relationship with his most expensive player.

But behind the scenes it is believed that is not entirely the case, with SunSport telling you Mourinho blasted him in a training ground showdown.

Is Jose Mourinho to blame for Paul Pogba’s failure to shine in big games for Manchester United?

Mourinho has since challenged Pogba to earn his trust following the fall out.

The former Juventus star is expected to return for tomorrow's visit of Chelsea with Ander Herrera crocked.

But boss Mourinho made a pointed remark when he was asked about his faith in 21-year-old midfielder Scott McTominay.

The Portuguese declared: “I don’t think I give trust for free. It is not about the manager trusting the player. I think it is up to the player to make the manager trust him, it is as simple as that."
