NEYMAR is set to be out for between six to eight weeks after it was confirmed he has suffered a sprained ankle and a fractured metatarsal.

The Brazilian left the field in tears on a stretcher at the weekend during PSG's 3-0 win against Marseille.

Neymar, 26, was running for a loose ball when he rolled his ankle.

On Monday morning he posted an image that showed his ankle in heavy strapping and surrounded by a brace.

It is believed the injury could take between six to eight weeks to heal - meaning the 26-year-old will miss the French club's huge Champions League second leg clash at home to Real Madrid.

PSG face the biggest game of their season when they welcome Cristiano Ronaldo and Co to the Parc des Princes next week.

The French club took the lead in the Bernabeu last week but a Ronaldo double and deflected Marcelo strike saw them lose 3-1.

And Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane insisted he would not be happy to see Neymar ruled out of the return fixture.

MADE HIM PAY Thiago Silva claims opponent wanted to 'hurt' Neymar

Asked on Monday, Zidane said: “I do not like when a player gets hurt, I'm not happy about Neymar's injury. We never rejoice a rival player for injury.”

Neymar has 26 goals and 16 assists for PSG in 29 matches this season.

The club are runaway leaders in Ligue 1 - 14 points clear of Monaco - but boss Unai Emery's future remains in doubt.

Kylian Mbappe, a Rolando own goal and Edinson Cavani sealed a routine victory for PSG over Marseille.

Emery, who still has his detractors at the club, was optimistic over the injury earlier in the day.

Emery told : "The first exams reveal a twist to the ankle.

"Now we are going to do a medical examination to find out what the twist is.

"We will wait for the examination, we will be optimistic.

"For his participation against Real, if I had to say yes or no today... I would say yes."

Now the chances of the world's most expensive player being fit enough to feature against Los Blancos appear slim to none.
