Chelsea chiefs want Frank Lampard to join coaching staff with view to being future Stamford Bridge manager
Chelsea's all-time top scorer, 39, has spent last 18 months studying his Uefa A coaching licence
CHELSEA want Frank Lampard to become part of their first team coaching staff with a view to him managing the club in the future.
Sunsport understands that Blues’ chiefs are keen that whoever succeeds Antonio Conte will welcome Lampard as a coach and help groom him to become boss.
The 39-year-old has spent the past 18 months studying for his Uefa 'A' coaching licence and is keen to to get into management when the right opportunity arises.
Over the last year he has been working with Chelsea Under 18 manager and former team mate, Jodie Morris, coaching at the club’s Cobham training ground.
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is believed to have been impressed by reports about Lampard’s progress and wants to make him a part of the club’s future.
With Conte almost certainly leaving in the summer the club see an opportunity to integrate their record goalscorer and most successful player into a new coaching set up.
Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique are in the frame to become the next manager and Lampard is unlikely to have any problem working with either.
He and Ancelotti have remained in contact since the Italian left the club and had a very positive relationship during his first stint at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard has already turned down approaches from MK Dons and Oxford United to become their manager in order to complete his coaching badge.
However, the chance to work alongside a Blues boss and learn his trade at the club where he is a legend would be a hugely tempting opportunity.
