Ipswich Town vs Hull City postponed as Beast from the East gets the better of Portman Road
Championship clash was set to kick-off at 3pm on Saturday but has had to be called-off due to the sub-zero conditions
SATURDAY'S Ipswich Town vs Hull City clash has been postponed as the Beast from the East gets the better of Portman Road.
The Championship clash was set to kick-off at 3pm but has had to be called-off due to the sub-zero conditions.
While the pitch has been deemed "playable", the exterior of the Suffolk stadium has been considered too 'hazardous' to go ahead.
A statement from Ipswich read: "Town’s match against Hull scheduled for the weekend has been postponed for safety reasons.
"The pitch is protected and likely to be playable but the areas inside and outside the stadium are hazardous.
"More bad weather is forecast later today, with freezing temperatures to continue into the weekend."
The Beast from the East and Storm Emma have already wreaked havoc on football this week - with a host of lower league matches called-off.
There was even a suggestion Arsenal vs Manchester City on Thursday night could have been postponed due to the awful conditions.

However, the game - won 3-0 again by Pep Guardiola's men - did go ahead, in front of a less-than-packed crowd at the Emirates.
Attention will now turn to the rest of this weekend's fixtures, with a number of other matches potentially subject to last-minute postponements.
