ARSENAL want Arsene Wenger’s successor to be a coach — ending the era of the all-powerful manager.
Wenger has overseen EVERY part of the club since his appointment in 1996, including transfers.
But the Arsenal board, including chief exec Ivan Gazidis, have doubts over the Frenchman moving the club forward.
And they want the new man to concentrate fully on coaching and a return to Champions League football.
Director of football Raul Sanllehi has been brought in from Barcelona and will look at recruitment along with chief scout Sven Mislintat, who made his name at Borussia Dortmund.
But Wenger, 68, wants a say in his successor.
