Liverpool star Roberto Firmino deserves new contract after superb run of form, claims boss Jurgen Klopp
Brazilian forward has enjoyed a phenomenal 2017-18 so far, scoring 22 goals in all competitions for the rampant Reds
LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed he wants to hand Roberto Firmino a new contract amidst his stellar run of form.
The Brazilian forward, 26, has enjoyed a phenomenal 2017-18 so far, scoring 22 goals in all competitions for the rampant Reds.
Firmino has also forged a ridiculously-talented attacking partnership with star duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Now German chief Klopp has made handing the former Hoffenheim star his No1 priority, saying Liverpool is definitely the best place for him.
Klopp claimed: "[The new contract] is very important for both sides.
"I think everything we are doing, the way we play, the way we give him the opportunity constantly to play, he deserves that.
"He deserves that because his work-rate is outstanding but it helped him a lot to step up. He became a different player here.
"Other teams can say ‘Hmmm, he’s really good’ but it is not certain they would play the same way and use him as a nine or a ten or they’ll use him out on the wings.
