Riyad Mahrez agrees personal terms with Roma but Leicester are yet to agree transfer fee for £50million-rated star

Pep Guardiola remains interested in the rapid assist-machine but City offended Foxes with their last attempt

RIYAD MAHREZ has agreed personal terms with Roma ahead of a summer switch, according to reports in Italy.

The Leicester star has tried to force his way out of the club in the last two transfer windows and wanted to head to Man City in January, leaving his relationship with the Foxes strained.

And Italian paper claim the Algerian ace has lined up a move to Italy’s capital and is waiting for the Serie A side and the Foxes to reach an agreement.

The 27-year-old is still under contract at the King Power until 2020 so the club is well within their rights to demand £50million for the winger.

A 97th-minute free-kick against Bournemouth at the weekend helped repair some of the damage done to Mahrez’s reputation after an ugly January window.

The playmaker went AWOL when a deadline day move to Manchester City collapsed.

The French boss said: “We appreciate the good support from the fans for Riyad. It was important they remained with him and it’s a good feeling for the future.”

Pep Guardiola remains interested in the rapid assist-machine and he will be hoping relations between the two Prem clubs have been repaired.

But Guardiola said: “I think the club made a statement and it was so clear what happened.

“The club always tries to do the best for us, and of course respecting the opponents.”
