Manchester United and Chelsea target David Alaba ready to quit Bayern Munich but only for Real Madrid or Barcelona

Premier League sides would obviously be interested in a top-class operator, still aged just 25

MANCHESTER UNITED and Chelsea target David Alaba is ready to quit Bayern Munich – but only for Real Madrid or Barcelona – according to reports in Germany.

The versatile Austrian defender has helped his side to a 20-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga as he nears his sixth top-flight title, aged just 25.

But claim the Austria international is ready to move on for a fresh challenge away from the one-sided Bundesliga.

The left-back has made another 19 league appearances this season – as well as five in the Champions League – chipping in with one goal.

Premier League sides are obviously interested in such a top-class operator, still at a relatively young age.

But the German paper are confident he will only be leaving one of Europe’s most dominant sides for one of Spain’s big two.

CHIEL FOR LEATHER Giorgio Chiellini labels Tottenham ‘weak’ and ‘mentally fragile’ following Juventus’ comeback

“I have goals for this season that I want to achieve, so there's no room for that right now.

“I want to get better in every area. In everyday life you have never learned. And in football it is the same. Also, because football evolves. Accordingly, one must adapt.

“I am no longer a young talent, I am aware of that. But I'm not the oldest player either.

“I am at an age where I have had a lot of experience and where I would like to take the next step in my career.

“It is also part of taking the next step in Bayern, of growing into a leadership role, assuming responsibility and passing on my experience.

“Especially for young players who follow suit. I think that the club expects me to slip into a leadership role.”
