Atletico Madrid 3 Lokomotiv 0

SAUL NIGUEZ, Diego Costa and Koke put Diego Simeone's men on course for the quarter-finals - despite the two-time Europa League champions being below their best.

Saul's stunning top-corner opener contrasted with the rest of a muted first half.

Then Costa tucked in a second-half rebound after Brazilian-born Russia keeper Guilherme Marinato kept out Antoine Griezmann's effort.

Finally, Koke planted home Juanfran's last-minute cutback to leave the Spaniards strong favourites for the second leg against the Russian Premier League leaders.

VALON BERISHA'S double sent Peter Stoger to a shock first home loss as Dortmund boss - as the Austrian visitors took their unbeaten away run in Europe to 10 games.

Salzburg edged a goalless opening half before Berisha drilled home a penalty after Omer Toprak fouled Hwang Hee-chan.

Midfielder Berisha made it 2-0 on 56 minutes with a fierce first-time drive from Stefan Lainer's centre.

Former Chelsea wideman Andre Schurrle soon poached third-placed Bundesliga side Dortmund back into contention from close range.

But Salzburg held on to stay in a strong position to reach the last eight.

CSKA Moscow 0 Lyon 1

MARCELO'S 68th minute header ended Lyon's one-month winless run in this low-key first leg.

CSKA rarely tested Lyon keeper Anthony Lopes despite having most of the possession.

And Bruno Genesio's French side continued their impressive sequence of Europa League results.

They have let in just four goals in the competition this season - despite being without a victory in Ligue 1 for six games.

Lazio 2 Dynamo Kiev 2

SUBSTITUTE Junior Moraes' late, long-range stunner rescued an entertaining draw for Dynamo.

Viktor Tsygankov had punished poor Lazio defending to put the Ukrainian visitors in front soon after the break.

But Lazio top scorer Ciro Immobile soon angled a leveller and Felipe Anderson promptly smashed home a lethal left-footer to suddenly put the Italians themselves ahead.

Moraes, though, dipped a 25-yard equaliser over Thomas Strakosha 12 minutes from time.

Immobile glanced a right-footer off the post with the last kick of the game to underline just how dramatic the second half was.

Marseille 3 Athletic Bilbao 1

LUCAS OCAMPOS capped Marseille's vibrant victory with a double that included the fastest goal in the Europa League this season.

The Argentine winger neatly steered an opener after 36 seconds from Florian Thauvin's perfect far-post cross.

Dimitri Payet thumped the French side's second 13 minutes later as they dictated the first quarter of the match.

Bilbao, however, grabbed a controversial penalty riposte just before the break.

Aritz Aduriz tucked home a spot-kick after Adil Rami was ruled to have handled the striker's close-range shot.

Fortunately for Marseille, Ocampos nicked the ball home from Payet's centre 12 minutes into the second period to give the hosts a two-goal winning margin to fairly reflect their superiority.

But Thauvin is a major doubt for the return leg after the French side's 18-goal top scorer was taken off on a stretcher.

RB Leipzig 2 Zenit St Petersburg 1

TIMO WERNER brilliantly set up Bruma's opener before netting Leipzig's second goal in a narrow win over Roberto Mancini's visitors.

But Domenico Criscito's late free-kick reply will leave Russian side Zenit confident for their home leg.

Leipzig might rue wasting their large amount of possession.

And they will travel to Russia for the return without fans - as the planned club trip was called off due to lack of interest.

Sporting Lisbon 2 Viktoria Plzen 0

FREDY MONTERO netted just before and after the interval to give Sporting a deserved two-goal lead for the return leg in the Czech Republic.

The Colombian striker controlled on his chest to drill home a superb volleyed pass from Fabio Coentrao.

Then he curled the Portugal giants' second goal past Ales Hruska, who later thwarted Bryan Ruiz and Bruno Fernandes.

But Sporting will be without Sebastian Coates and William Carvalho for the away leg after they picked up bookings.
