A steward was later seen disciplining the sullen-faced kid on the touchline after the first-half incident.

After the ball went out of play, Vertonghem went to grab it but the teen would not let go.

He then appeared to chuck the ball at the Belgian international before the referee came over to get things moving.

Bournemouth started well and opened the scoring through Junior Stanislas, who also missed a sitter.

But Dele Alli and Son Heung-min struck in the second half after Harry Kane limped off injured.

The England ace watched his side go a goal down before picking up an injury severe enough for him to ignore the bench and zoom straight down the tunnel, missing Alli’s equaliser.

Kane converted a cross from the right wing as Cherries keeper Asmir Begovic leapt out to narrow the angle.

The England ace – due to be called up next week – slotted the ball home but was flagged offside and the goal was disallowed.

And things got worse for Tottenham when their homegrown hero took an age to get up and failed to run-off his ankle problem.
