Third-placed side were denied an injury-time goal against the league leaders and their Russian owner went ballistic
PAOK president Ivan Savvidis invaded the pitch after his top-flight Greek side were denied a last-minute goal – appearing to carry a PISTOL in his waistband.
The clash with AEK Athens was 0-0 when a Fernando Varela goal for the home side was chalked off and chaos ensued.
Fearful AEK Athens players dashed back into their changing rooms, while PAOK remained staunchly on the pitch arguing.
Savvidis - rumoured to be one of Russia's wealthiest men and a close friend of president Vladimir Putin – marched onto the field to join the melee.
The Georgia-born Greek-Russian bought the club in 2012 and helped them win the Greek Cup last season.
Savividis came on the field twice, accompanied by his bodyguards.
On the second occasion, with his coat taken off, a pistol appeared visible in his waistband.
AEK officials claimed the Russian threatened the referee the first time he entered the pitch, before he was pulled away.
The game was finally, officially, abandoned nearly two hours after the disallowed goal with the stadium cleared of spectators.
Adding to widespread confusion, there have been claims that referee Giorgos Kominis had actually ALLOWED the strike.
An official statement from the Greek league is expected soon.
