Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson ‘out for rest of season with knee injury and is huge doubt for World Cup with Iceland’
Midfielder's ligaments in right knee are said to be 'very damaged' and could require surgery
GYLFI SIGURDSSON could be out for the rest of the season and miss the World Cup, according to reports.
The Everton midfielder is said to be suffering from "very damaged" ligaments in his right knee.
Sigurdsson picked up a "serious" knock in the Toffees' 2-0 win over Brighton on the weekend.
But now his brother, Olafur Mar, has apparently confirmed to that the injury is worse than first thought - with his comments since being backed up by father Sigurdur Adalsteinsson.
And he could require surgery on the problem, potentially sidelining him for up to nine months.
It is believed Sigurdsson, 28, will see a specialist today to find out the extent of the injury.

But it is feared that by staying on the pitch he actually compounded the problem.
