GYLFI SIGURDSSON could be out for the rest of the season and miss the World Cup, according to reports.
The Everton midfielder is said to be suffering from "very damaged" ligaments in his right knee.
And he could require surgery on the problem, potentially sidelining him for up to nine months.
It is believed Sigurdsson, 28, will see a specialist today to find out the extent of the injury.
He managed to complete the game against the Seagulls which lifted Sam Allardyce's side to ninth in the table.
But it is feared that by staying on the pitch he actually compounded the problem.
It appears to be a given that Sigurdsson will face some time on the sidelines - the only question is for how long.
Iceland's first World Cup game is against Argentina on June 16.
Everton fans will remember the severity of knee injuries.
