GYLFI SIGURDSSON could be out for the rest of the season and miss the World Cup, according to reports.

The Everton midfielder is said to be suffering from "very damaged" ligaments in his right knee.

that the injury is worse than first thought - with his comments since being backed up by father Sigurdur Adalsteinsson.

And he could require surgery on the problem, potentially sidelining him for up to nine months.

It is believed Sigurdsson, 28, will see a specialist today to find out the extent of the injury.
