Bayern Munich new boss ‘will be German’ with ex-Borussia Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel expected to take over

Jupp Heynckes, 72, replaced Carlo Ancelotti after disappointing start to campaign but will step down from post in summer

THOMAS TUCHEL is the stand-out favourite to be named Bayern Munich's new boss, with the club agreeing the new man "must speak German", according to reports.

Jupp Heynckes stepped in to replace Carlo Ancelotti following a shocking start to the campaign and has the club on the brink of yet another Bundesliga title.

However, at the age of 72, he has decided to step down at the end of the campaign and Bayern are seeking a new long-term appointment.

As is Heynckes himself, who recently claimed Tuchel has "the quality to manage Bayern".

Tuchel followed a similar route in management to Jurgen Klopp, moving from Mainz to Dortmund, and impressed with his tactical approach.

Despite winning just on German Cup in three years with BVB, it is widely accepted his hands were somewhat with Bayern being so strong.
