Tottenham and England boost as Harry Kane’s ankle injury will only keep him out for a month

Initial fears were that Spurs striker would miss World Cup — but he will return to action before end of current campaign

HARRY KANE will be out of action for at least a month after a scan revealed he suffered ankle ligament damage at Bournemouth on Sunday.

The Tottenham striker went off injured in the first half of his team’s 4-1 victory over the Cherries.

He was due to have a scan yesterday but his ankle was too swollen for it to be done.

As he can not currently drive, Kane's wife dropped him off on Wednesday morning and team-mate Danny Rose dropped him home afterwards.

However, he was able to have a scan today and club spokesman said: “Preliminary assessments have confirmed that Harry has damaged lateral ligaments in his right ankle.”

The spokesman added: “He is expected to return to first team training next month.”

That means Kane will not be included in the England squad for this month’s World Cup warm-ups against Holland and Italy.

He will also definitely miss Tottenham’s FA Cup quarter-final at Swansea on Saturday and their Premier League trips to Chelsea and Stoke next month.
