Arsenal old boy Francis Coquelin to have surgery on torn Achilles at Valencia
French midfielder will go under the knife having made just nine La Liga appearances since £12million move from the Emirates
FRANCIS COQUELIN tore his Achilles tendon during training with Valencia on Friday.
The former Arsenal midfielder needs surgery on his right leg and will be out for the long term.
French midfielder Coquelin left the club’s training ground in an ambulance.
Valencia later released a statement saying that Coquelin "has been taken to hospital and will undergo a surgical intervention in the next hours".
Coquelin has only been in Spain since January.
The 26-year-old signed in a £12million deal from the Gunners and has impressed at the Mestalla in his nine league appearances.

So far he has one goal to his name in the 2-1 win at Malaga.
It was Coquelin's first goal in over seven years.

Amazingly he failed to find the net in his previous 105 games at Arsenal, who tweeted their support for their ex-player.
"We're thinking of you, Francis," the Gunners wrote.
