LYNSEY HIPGRAVE had a moment to forget live on BBC after making a calamitous gaffe during the FA Cup semi-final draw.

Manchester United were drawn against Tottenham, while Chelsea will face Southampton at Wembley.

But Hipgrave accidentally claimed Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho would be taking on his former Blues.

And after being the subject of ridicule from fans, Hipgrave tweeted: "That's live tv, not my first mistake and certainly won't be my last.

"Really sorry. Just checking you were all listening."

Gabby Logan responded to her apology by saying: "My old boss at ITV used to say the viewers love a little mistake every now and again it makes you human. You rarely put a foot wrong. Don’t lose a moment’s sleep."

One supporter responded to her tweet by saying: "No need to apologise, difficult with all those fixtures to read out."

While another user said of her gaffe: "The woman who just presented the FA cup draw hasn’t got a clue, she just said United are playing Southampton, get a new job lovely."

One person even went as far to say the Newcastle fan deserves to be sacked, he said: "The woman that just done the FA Cup draw needs sacking. How hard is it to remember 2 fixtures."

Women in Football, Alan Shearer and fellow sports broadcaster Amy Christophers all praised the journalist.

The FA Cup semi-final draw has been questioned by some fans, who have been left convinced that former Blues stars Petr Cech and Gianfranco Zola helped Antonio Conte's side.
