Liverpool press on in Anfield expansion plan as they look to take capacity over 60,000
Reds will hope to add 6,000 more seats to the Anfield Road End of the stadium and accommodate even more fans
LIVERPOOL are ready to press on in their bid to expand Anfield beyond 60,000 seats.
The Merseyside club are turning their attention to the Anfield Road End of their stadium after the success of the Main Stand.
Anfield's capacity was increased by 9,000 to 54,000 when the new stand opened in 2016 and it has proved a major success.
And the report that the Reds will look to add to their capacity even more as well as search for a sponsor for the new stand.
Liverpool were granted permission to expand the Anfield Road End as well as the Main Stand when they initially began redevelopment.
And they have until September 2019 to submit their detailed plans for the next phase of the expansion.
But the Anfield powers are keen to get working on the latest expansion, adding another tier to the stand opposite the Kop and make it the same height as the new Main Stand.
That will add 6,000 more seats and take the capacity up from 54,000 to the magic 60,000 mark.

Old Trafford is currently the biggest Premier League ground with a capacity of over 75,000, followed by Tottenham's new stadium (62,062), Arsenal's Emirates Stadium (60,260) and the London Stadium (60,000).
Liverpool added £12m to their match day revenue in the year ending May 2017 as a result of the added capacity.

The Reds earned £74m in match day income and will hope further redevelopments will take them closer to Man United's £107m and Arsenal's £100m.
Anfield chiefs also want to find a naming sponsor for the new stand to add even more revenue.
