GAR-ING UP

Gareth Bale insists he is determined to win China Cup with Wales

Wales tasted success by reaching the semi-finals of Euro 2016, but it is 81 years since the nation claimed its last outright title by winning the now-defunct British Home Championship in 1937

Real Madrid superstar Bale has won ten trophies including three Champions League titles at the Bernabeu.

But the 28-year-old now wants to return to Spain on Tuesday with more silverware - yet this time with his country.

Bale said: "It'll be massive. To win any trophy is always good. But for your country it's that bit more special, it's in your heart and your blood and you want to make the whole country proud.

"Any tournament no matter what the competition is you want to win it. Whether it's in a tournament like we are now or in something like a World Cup, it's always important to win trophies.

BALE UNSHAW Manchester United’s Gareth Bale move could be wrecked by Jose Mourinho’s treatment of Luke Shaw

Bale scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 semi-final against China on Thursday and broke Ian Rush's all-time goal-scoring record.

Now the Madrid striker will come up against bruising centre-back Diego Godin of cross-city rivals Atletico.

He added: "I don't really think about who I play against, who ever it is. I'll be trying my best for my team, my country to score goals and to help my team win the game.

"We obviously want to perform well and do the right things on the pitch. I feel if we do that we have a great chance of winning, they are great team but we have to concentrate on ourselves and what we're good at. If we do that then we will win the game."
