CRISTIANO RONALDO was left red-faced as Euro 2016 champions Portugal were humiliated 3-0 by Holland ahead of this summer's World Cup in Russia.

Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Babel and Memphis Depay were all on the scoresheet as Joao Cancelo was sent off for the home side in Monday night's friendly.

As usual, all eyes were on Ronaldo as an expectant home crowd waited for the Real Madrid superstar to produce his usual magic.

But Portugal looked thoroughly disjointed in all areas of the pitch and Holland’s dominance soon began to take its toll.

In fact, it took just 11 minutes for the deadlock to be broken, with former Manchester United man Memphis Depay finding the back of the net.

Holland continued to keep Portugal at bay and were two goals to the good after half an hour when ex-Liverpool forward Ryan Babel scored to continue his amazing international revival.

But the Dutch weren’t done just yet despite half-time approaching, with Liverpool’s club-record signing Virgil van Dijk burying the ball when it fell to him from a botched corner seconds before the ref whistled for the break.

Ronaldo continued to suffer after bizarrely trying to claim for a penalty despite tripping over his own boots.

And the striker soon had the plug pulled on his night when he was taken off, much to the dismay of the crowd.

But things got worse for Portugal when they were forced to play the final 30 minutes with ten men following a red card for right-back Joao Cancelo.
