Fulham defender Tomas Kalas believes his Cottagers team-mate Ryan Sessegnon is the best player in the Championship

The Czech Republic international on loan from Chelsea has waxed lyrical over the 17-year-old starlet

RYAN SESSEGNON is the best player in the Championship.

That’s the view of his Fulham team-mate Tomas Kalas, who claims the Cottagers’ style of play gets the best out of the boy wonder.

Sessegnon, 17, has banged in 14 goals and chalked up five assists this season, attracting interest from Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United among others.

When asked if is the best player in the division, 24-year-old Kalas said: “It looks like it, but obviously if he went to a different team and the team might not use him that much, he might be struggling.

“I am glad he is in a team that is playing football that suits him.

“And obviously he works hard every game. He deserves all the positive comments that are made.

“He has a massive future if he keeps on going like that.”

Kalas is on loan at Fulham from Chelsea and admits Sessegnon faces a tough dilemma this summer.

Third-placed Fulham travel to Norwich today and Kalas added: “With Ryan it is slightly different because if we get promoted, I don’t know what I would choose.

“He has a secure position in Fulham and he would be in the Premier League.

“I don’t know if I would decide to go to a bigger club or if a big club comes how to say ‘no’. But I am sure he has all the people to help him with these decisions.

“He could have a massive decision to stay in the team he is playing for and he knows that he will be playing — or to go to another team and not know anything... whether he is playing or not playing or what his position might be.”

Kalas is looking forward to Sessegnon’s head-to-head battle with Norwich’s James Maddison at Carrow Road today.

England Under-21 midfielder Maddison has hit 13 Championship goals for the Canaries and is another player being watched closely by a flock of Premier League clubs.

Kalas admitted: “It is going to be a talented player against a talented player at Norwich.
