Luton star Luke Berry suffers serious leg injury causing 12-minute delay so bad that both sets of players called back into dressing room

LUTON ace Luke Berry suffered a leg injury so serious it sparked a 12-minute delay, with both sets of players called back into dressing room.

The Hatters star, 25, was taken off within seconds of the League Two game with players visibly stunned as they were taken off the pitch.

Berry's leg was said by some fans to be "hanging the wrong way", with supporters sending their best wishes.

The midfielder went up for a header before collapsing to the ground with players from both teams left shell-shocked at the scenes.

Luton immediately tweeted the news, saying: "Looks like a really serious leg injury for Luke Berry.

"He goes to ground to make a challenge before pulling out but his leg gets caught and from here you can see it's bad.

"Teams have been called off the pitch to go inside and the stretcher is called over."

The club provided an update, saying he suffered a dislocated ankle and was being assessed for a potential fracture and ankle ligament damage.

Hatters boss Nathan Jones was even seen sprinting onto the pitch with horror etched on his face as he checked on Berry.

Colchester also tweeted the news of the injury - before they went 2-0 up within half an hour as Luton players struggled to come to terms with their team-mate's injury.
