When an Arsenal fan with the account name @TheIwobiEffect tweeted the police to "report a robbery" they responded with: "apologies for the delay in replying.

"We've been busy looking for a missing person, surname Ozil. Have you seen him? #Banter"

But it appears the 29-year-old has had the final say as Stoke stepped closer to the drop.

Immediately after the win he took to Twitter to respond: "@Policingstoke didn't help in the case of robbery last summer so we took matters into our own hands.

Bruno Martins Indi was adjudged to have fouled him but replays clearly showed the Dutch defender getting his foot to the ball first before Ozil kicked his heel.

After Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored the spot, the floodgates opened and the striker doubled his tally.

Alexandre Lacazette then scored a third from 12-yards to leave Paul Lambert's men three points adrift of safety.
