Why was he called Butch?

WILKINS was nicknamed Butch from an early age - right back when he was an apprentice at Chelsea.

The nickname was given as tongue-in-cheek and was aimed at his not-so butch dress sense.

Many felt that his style was the opposite of his arrogant and aggressive playing style.
