HOT SHOT Mauro Icardi produced one of the misses of the season as AC Milan and Inter played out a 0-0 draw at the San Siro — before repeating the trick in stoppage time.
Before the match, Rossoneri icon Franco Baresi held up a shirt bearing Ray Wilkins' name and number to allow fans to show their appreciation to their former midfielder.
The act was particularly poignant given this clash had to be rearranged as the original fixture was postponed following the tragic death of Davide Astori.
A 0-0 draw does no good for either side, and leaves them both in danger of once again missing out on the Champions League.
Inter Milan had the opportunity to climb up to third with a win — and came into this match on the back of a slight resurgence following a dismal start to 2018.
Meanwhile, the Rossoneri had suffered a defeat at Juventus last week where they were widely praised for their performance and started the evening eight points behind their fourth-placed rivals.
Inter were the better of the two sides in the early stages and appeared to have taken a deserved lead when Icardi raced through to fire through Gianluigi Donnarumma's legs after the Italian lost his footing.
He reeled away in celebration and Milan accepted they were 1-0 behind — until VAR showed he had stepped marginally offside and the decision to award the goal was overturned.
The Argentine was given the opportunity to make amends after the break when Rafinha found him all alone inside the six yard box, but he incredibly turned his effort wide.
Patrick Cutrone then headed the ball over a stricken Samir Handanovic and into the back of the net but, on this occasion, it was immediately disallowed.

He was immediately replaced by Nikola Kalinic as Gennaro Gattuso looked for a more direct route to goal.
However, Inter soon took control and looked most likely to score the winner.
And, with the final kick of the game, Icardi — who scored a last-minute winner to complete his hat-trick in the reverse fixture — slid in to meet Joao Cancelo's ball across the box, but could only bundle it wide.
The result sees Inter open up a two-point lead on fifth-place Lazio, while Milan's hopes of finishing in the Champions League places are effectively over.
