Jurgen Klopp slams ‘idiots’ in damning verdict on Manchester City team bus attack

JURGEN KLOPP has delivered a damning verdict on the Manchester City team bus attack.
The Liverpool manager apologised to City for their ordeal at the hands of Reds fans attacked on the approach to Anfield on Wednesday evening.
The situation was a sorry prelude to Liverpool's fabulous 3-0 winning performance in the Champions League quarter-final, first leg.
The 'Battle of Britain' took a new twist as City's bus was targeted by missiles with footage taken from inside showing that cans and bottles were thrown.
UEFA responded by has opened disciplinary charges against Liverpool following the incident.
And Klopp said in the build-up to Saturday's Merseyside derby:

"I apologise for what happened before the game.
"It killed everything for us. You cannot be happy about that.

"The atmosphere in the game was one of the best I have experienced but what happened before changes things."
After the match, the City team bus stopped to help treat an injured Liverpool fan in the spot where they had been attacked just hours earlier.
City staff on the bus instructed the driver to pull over and the club's medical team treated the supporter until ambulances arrived.

Klopp said: "It was a perfect example for how it should be. It was an outstanding gesture from the City medical staff.
"It leaves us even more in a situation to find it strange."

Liverpool now face four charges from European football's governing body. The case will be dealt with by the Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on May 31.
A statement from UEFA read: “Disciplinary proceedings have been opened following the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg match between Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC (3-0) played on 4 April in England.”
Liverpool fans are accused of setting off fireworks, throwing objects, acts of damage and crowd disturbances.
