TITLE MUSIC

Kevin De Bruyne tells Jose Mourinho that Manchester City will turn up music again to celebrate a title triumph

KEVIN DE BRUYNE says his old boss Jose Mourinho will have to face the music at the Etihad.

It resulted in a furious tunnel row between the two sets of players and staff in the aftermath of the visitors 2-1 win.

A win of any sort for Pep Guardiola’s men this evening would guarantee them the Premier League title.

And you can assume the volume will be cranked up even further by City’s locker room DJs.

De Bruyne says the music is always on after matches - and there are no plans to change it just because of what happened four months ago.

So maybe Mourinho and Co had better bring their ear muffs.

He said: “The volume is always up. It’s our way to prepare for games, the music is on before the game and after.

“So it’s not like because we won we’re going to change it, it’s just because it’s the thing we do, it’s the thing that gets us relaxed, maybe.

“Some teams don’t do music, but a lot of teams I’ve played in have played music, and obviously the dressing-rooms are mostly close to each other, but it’s not to mock anybody.

“You have to take it up, you know. If you lose, you lose, you have take up that people mock you, that people do things on social media, say things about you.

“We put music on for us, not to do anything bad to other people.

“It’s our thing to relax and have fun, and if people take it that it’s bad for [towards] them, them I’m sorry, but it’s just for us.

“In the end it’s just the way it is, because lot of teams put music on and we hear it also, so I don’t think it’s disrespectful.”

Clinching the title against their bitter rivals is pretty much as good as it gets for many City fans.

And you would expect De Bruyne to feel similar after being shown the door by Mourinho at Chelsea.

The Belgian famously said the ‘Special One’ only spoke to him twice during their time together at Stamford Bridge.

He and Liverpool’s Mo Salah have been the stand-out players in the Premier League this season - yet neither sparked with Mourinho.

KDB says some players just don’t click with their managers.

He added: “Probably now we’ve found somebody who suits us both more than it was before. In both our cases that’s true.

“But that’s the same for a lot of players.

“Every manager will have had a lot of players who were not suited with each other who went away and did well afterwards.

“It shows Salah and my strength.

“Obviously everyone needs to find a system and playing style that suits you more.

“It’s just because it’s the same manager and it’s both of us in the same season who are going well that people are talking about it.

“Maybe a lot of people are picking up on it now, today but I’m not really that type of person who thinks about that.

“It’s just the way it goes, in life, in football.”

KDB added beating Mourinho will give him no extra satisfaction.

“I really don’t care. It’s just part of football – it goes up and down.

“That was an experience where I learned maybe the most out of how football goes, how I go with the situation.

“I was only like 21 at the time – no one is going to play all the time at that age.

“If I see the amount of games I’ve played in my career it’s a lot so I’m happy.”

The opportunity is there for City to win the title earlier than any other team in Premier League history - even the great United sides.

The fact the Red Devils have not pushed them harder is something that will hurt Mourinho.

But KDB said: “I don’t think Man United did bad. I think we did really well this season.

“We’ve only lost like nine points in the season, that almost never happens so I think if we have a good season.

“In a normal season the title would be much closer because the teams up there have a lot of points.

“They can reach the mid 80s, United the high 80s, that’s a lot of points in a season.

“A lot of people have criticised them because they’re comparing them to us this season and that makes it more difficult for them.

“But they did really well this season.”

With this City side though, doing really well is not good enough.
