PAUL POGBA would be the fifth-choice central midfielder at Manchester City, according to Manchester United legend Gary Neville.

The £89million French star, 25, scored twice in United's remarkable 3-2 comeback win at the Etihad.

But Nev says Pogba would still be an afterthought for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.

During commentary, Neville revealed: "Pogba's agent was optimistic offering him to Manchester City.

"Gundogan, Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Silva. He'd be fifth choice playing like he is."

Earlier this week, City chief Guardiola revealed he had been offered Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan by super-agent Mino Raiola.

Pep claimed: "Two months ago he offered me Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us.

"He [Raiola] was interested in Mkhitaryan and Pogba to play with us. Pogba is an incredible player. A top, top player."

However, Pep turned down deals for the pair - with Neville suggesting that was a good move for both parties, as Pogba would be miles off first-team football in the blue half of Manchester.

The former England full-back, 43, may have been made to eat his words somewhat though.

Nev made the bold claim at half-time of the game at the Etihad... moments before Pogba's brace to swing the game in United's favour.

Chris Smalling later volleyed in an incredible winner as United left the Etihad with all three points.

The shock defeat - just days after their 3-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool in the Champions League - means the champagne remains on ice for now.

City can win the title in their next Premier League game - away to Tottenham.
