ALEX FERGUSON'S smile said it all - as he watched one of the all-time great Champions League comebacks.
But Manchester United target Samuel Umtiti had nothing to smile about as his Barcelona side were overwhelmed 3-0 at Roma.
Fergie could hardly have been impressed with France centre-back Umtiti as Barca were KO'd on away goals after a mesmerising quarter-final.
Former Old Trafford boss Ferguson looked the most relaxed person in the crowd as Roma piled on the pressure.
Smartly-dressed Fergie was in the stands at the Olimpico stadium with his wife Cathy.
In truth, she was caught on camera with an expression as grim as those on the Barca bench.
But Fergie himself beamed away as Roma outplayed the La Liga giants in a manner few sides have in the modern era.
Umtiti and Co will just have to grin and bear it - and wonder how it all went so wrong.
MAR DRAMA Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United this summer after rejecting new contract offer, say reports in France
Seemingly in command after a 4-1 first-leg win, Barca were rocked by Roma's high-tempo heroics in the return.
Ex-Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko hit an early opener and Daniele de Rossi doubled Roma's lead with a penalty on 58 minutes.
Then Greece powerhouse Kostas Manolas headed the hosts' winner on away goals with eight minutes remaining.
That completed a night to forget for Umtiti.
United are rumoured to be keen on the 24-year-old, especially as his release clause is 'only' £52million.
But this was not a night for defenders.
Jose Mourinho and Barca are both thought to be monitoring Umtiti's central partner at international level, RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano.

Fergie, though, might be returning to Manchester with a much broader message for Mourinho.
After Roma's showing, United's greatest ever manager might want to tell the current Old Trafford hierarchy just how much work needs to be done all-round to catch up with the Euro elite.
