MICHY BATSHUAYI is a huge doubt to play at the World Cup after the Belgian striker ruled himself out for the rest of the season with injury.
Basthauyi, who is on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Chelsea, was carried off on a stretcher during his side's 2-0 defeat at Schalke at the weekend.
And it has been confirmed he suffered ankle ligament damage.
The 24-year-old posted an update on Twitter this afternoon - and it was not good news.
He wrote: "Well its not good news for now, my season is probably over, and i wont be able to pay @BVB back for their confidence.
"Thank you all the amazing amount of love I received since yesterday.
"Wishing my teammates the best for the final days. See you soon."
The striker was carried off the pitch on a stretcher in the 92nd minute of Dortmund's disappointing Bundesliga defeat to Schalke.
Batshuayi crashed to the grass in second-half injury-time after a challenge from former Tottenham man Benjamin Stambouli.
He immediately raised his hand into the air to signal for medical help, as did opposition defender Naldo.
As he was being carried off the pitch he had his hands covering his face, in obvious pain.
The Belgian has proved a huge hit since signing on loan with the German giants in January, scoring nine goals in 13 appearances in all competitions.
But this injury setback could spell disaster for the 24-year-old's World Cup dreams in Russia.
The Ruhr Valley derby clash was all over when Batshuayi suffered his injury, as goals from Yevhen Konoplyanka and Naldo had bagged Schalke the points.
It means Dortmund sit in fourth spot in the Bundesliga, level on 51 points with third-placed Bayer Leverkusen and a huge 14 points behind leaders Bayern Munich.
