The Toffees failed in an attempt to sign the Algeria international for £35million last summer.

But Goodison Park boss Sam Allardyce is understood to favour a new bid for Brahimi, 28, who has helped Porto top Portugal's Primeira Liga.

They lead Benfica by two points with four games left to play.

Paris-born Brahimi is a product of PSG's academy before going on to play for Rennes and Spanish side Granada before Porto paid £6m for him in 2014.

Roma, Sevilla and Besiktas are also said to be keen on the attacking midfielder, who won France Under-21 caps before switching allegiance to his parents' birthplace in 2013.

The 25-year-old signed a contract until 2022, but has failed to live up to expectations after making just 14 senior appearances this term and scoring once.

And reports in Italy claim both Inter Milan and Napoli are eager to sign him this summer - with Inter leading the chase.
