Kevin De Bruyne set to beat Mo Salah to at least one award as Premier League introduces gong for assists
Manchester City ace is on course to be crowned the league's best playmaker - a new gong that was announced on Wednesday
KEVIN DE BRUYNE and Mo Salah are frontrunners in the race to be crowned the PFA Player of the Year.
The Manchester City star could miss out to the Egyptian after Salah remarkably scored his 40th goal of the season against Bournemouth at the weekend.
But one award De Bruyne, 26, looks braced to win is the Premier League's most lethal playmaker.
The new gong was announced on Wednesday with the award handed to the player who gets the most assists in one season.
And the Belgian is leading the pack, creating 15 goals for his team-mates throughout their title-winning campaign.
Fellow City ace Leroy Sane is his closest rival on 12 with David Silva also in the hunt on 11.
Like Salah, De Bruyne is set to sweep a host of awards and the pair have unsurprisingly been named in the PFA Team of the Year.
Man City had five players in the XI including a debut appearance for Sergio Aguero.
Premier League most assists
Kevin De Bruyne - 15
Leroy Sane - 12
David Silva - 12
Dele Alli - 10
Christian Eriksen - 9
Henrikh Mkhitaryan - 9
