Who is Brendan Rodgers?

RODGERS is a Northern Irish football coach and former player who is currently the manager of Celtic.

He played football at school and represented the Republic of Ireland at schoolboy level.

He began his senior career as a defender at Ballymena United before signing for Reading.

The 45-year-old was forced into early retirement at the age of 20 due to a genetic knee condition but he continued playing non-league football for a number of years for clubs including Newport (IOW), Witney Town and Newbury Town.

Which clubs has he managed?

AFTER early retirement, he became youth coach at Reading whilst also playing non-league football.

After spending time travelling Spain to study coaching methods, he left Reading to become head coach at the Chelsea academy.

He was promoted to reserve team manager two years later and in 2008 left the club to manager, then Championship side Watford.

Weeks after securing Watford's survival in the Championship, he became manager of his old club Reading but only lasted just over six months.

Rodgers became well known during his spell at Swansea where he guided them to a place in the Premier League after beating old club Reading in the play-off final.

Swansea were favourites to be relegated that season but an impressive first campaign saw them stay up.

In June 2012, Rodgers was unveiled as the new Liverpool manager following the departure of Kenny Dalglish.

He managed over 160 games at Liverpool before getting sacked following their 1-1 draw with Everton in October 2015.

What is his record at Celtic?

In May 2016, Brendan Rodgers was appointed as Celtic manager on a 12-month rolling contract.

He is currently on the verge of winning his second Scottish Premiership title - a win over Hibernian this weekend would be enough.

He has also won two Scottish League Cup's and one Scottish Cup after winning the treble in his first season in charge of the club.
