MOHAMED ELNENY was taken off in tears on a stretcher and a leg brace during Arsenal's clash with West Ham, prompting fears over his World Cup fitness.
The Gunners midfielder looked in serious pain as he was taken off by medical staff after going over on his ankle during a challenge for a high ball with Hammers ace Mark Noble.
The Egyptian, 25, is hoping to link up with the likes of Mo Salah and Ahmed Hegazi at this summer's World Cup as Egypt get set to take on hosts Russia, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in Group A.
But Elneny was clearly in a lot of discomfort as he was carted off by medical staff with his shirt covering his face.
The injury seemed to come about as he was attempting to clear a bouncing ball on the edge of the box and was challenged by Mark Noble.
He then rolled over awkwardly on his left ankle and collapsed to the floor in agony, while replays showed his foot had rolled at right angles to the joint.
The joint was strapped up in a protective boot before he was lifted on to a stretcher.
Elneny was taken off and youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles was brought on in his place.

According to Sky Sports, the Arsenal medical staff confirmed he had rolled his ankle but there was no word whether Elneny had broken any bones.
Although he will need to go for scans on his ankle ligaments and an x-ray to confirm there are not any broken limbs.
