RYAN SESSEGNON'S girlfriend faced vile abuse on Twitter after they arrived at the PFA awards tonight.
Sick trolls mocked her weight on a night where football paraded its best but social media its worst.
Fulham star Sessegnon, 18 next month, was celebrating becoming the first player outside the Premier League to be shortlisted for the Professional Footballers' Association Young Player of the Year Award.
But while the left-sided starlet might be the future for England, some tweeters showed they are stuck in the dark ages.
The fact his partner looked healthy and a normal weight is not the point.
But it made the abuse she received bizarre as well as vile.
Philip NOT Plein @Phil-Plein said: "I'd be very embarrassed if that was my GF tbh..."
One of the most unpleasant comments came from @_ffDrew, who described her as a "whale" who should be "returned to the sea".

Other outbursts were even more extreme.
Dan Paxton tweeted that it was "nice of Sessegnon to bring that rescued beach whale to the awards ceremony".

And other wrote how she would be "a goner" when Sessegnon is "more famous".
But other twitter users rounded on the abusers.
One, simply called @jftbl, said: "Stop being low and mocking her."
And MK @Energetic Oxlade hit out: "Don't you have anything else to do other than make fun out of someone's girlfriend?"

She was described as "100 per cent gorgeous" by some, while Craig Lewis described her as "stunning".
And the two teens were described as a "cute couple" by many on the social media site.
Others pointed out that it was even worse to target a girl so young.
Meanwhile, Championship ace Sessegnon has described making the shortlist alongside leading Prem names like Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling as "crazy".
The England Under-21 flier has been linked with Liverpool, Manchester United and, most strongly, Tottenham.
But Sessegnon insists his feet are very much still on the ground.
And it is thought he will consider staying if the Cottagers get promoted.
He said: “It is crazy to be on a shortlist with those players but I’m just happy to be in and around those types of players.
“I just need to keep improving. It is credit to the team really, the way we play and ever since I made my debut.
"I know the club very well and I feel very comfortable playing for the club."
