Chelsea target Mauro Icardi admits he ‘doesn’t know what the future holds’
Real Madrid also in the mix as 26-goal Inter Milan striker with near £100m release clause weighs up his options
MAURO ICARDI is being linked with Chelsea as Alvaro Morato's poor season is put under the microscope.
Morata, 25, does have 15 goals but has generally not lived up to expectations following last summer's £60million move from Real Madrid.
In contrast, Icardi — understood to have a release clause of almost £100m — is scoring goals for fun at Inter Milan with 26 to his name.
says Icardi has revealed he “doesn’t know what the future holds” after numerous rumours linking him to both Chelsea and Real.
Spanish giants Real are in the market for a new striker and Icardi is one of three top targets along with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski.
Chelsea could decide wither to ditch Morata or bring in a heavyweight striker to take some of the weight of the Spaniard's shoulders.
TOP STORIES FROM THE PREMIER LEAGUE
From 25-year-old Icardi's point of view, Inter are unlikely to qualify for the Champions League and that could help push the Argentinian out of the San Siro.
He supported Inter as a boy and would always “pick them when he played on his playstation”.

But great players want to test themselves at the highest level and Icardi will almost certainly leave this summer.
He will be sorely missed. Having moved to Inter in 2013 he has become a club hero, scoring a hat-trick in the Milan derby earlier this season.

In the meantime, Icardi is looking to break into the Argentine World Cup squad.
Unfortunately for him his country's attack is second to none with Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain on board.
It means that the likes of Icardi and Paulo Dybala are both at risk of missing out on Russia.
