The news comes hot on the heels of SunSport's exclusive that Manchester United are considering bringing the Northern Ireland star back for a cut-price £3million.

Evans, 30, was sold by Louis Van Gaal in August 2015 for £6m.

His stock rose during the first two of his three seasons at The Hawthorns, prompting big money bids from both Leicester City and Manchester City.

The Foxes had a £10m bid turned down last August and City had an £18m offer rejected at the same time.

Then came interest from Arsenal in the New Year window with a proposed offer of £10m plus full-back Mathieu Debuchy.

Now says West Ham will make an approach for Evans when West Brom's relegation is confirmed.

The Irons have a long-standing interest in the centre-half and are expected to firm it up with a bid.

Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Everton are also thought to be interested.
