Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to take month off from football and weigh-up future options as PSG circle
Wenger wants to stay on in management when he leaves the Emirates at the end of the season but admits he needs time out to assess his options before making any decisions
ARSENE WENGER says he needs a month away from football at the end of the season before making any decision over his future.
Wenger will leave Arsenal next month after 22 years at the club and is having to get used to life without a clear plan for the first time in over two decades.
The one thing the 68-year-old Frenchman has made clear so far is that he feels no desire to go into retirement after his Gunners exit.
That has already led to plenty of clubs around the world taking an interest in offering Wenger a role beyond Arsenal.
There have already been advances made about moving out to the Far East to take up a job in the Chinese Super League.
And French giants Paris Saint-Germain are also attempting to come up with an offer for him to take a general manager role at the club.
At this stage Wenger is understood to prefer to continue in day-to-day management of a side rather than move up into a more administrative and advisory role.
That is likely to mean he will snub the approach from PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi in favour of a full-time job in the dugout - but Wenger admits he is struggling to get his thoughts clear in his mind.

"I am confused a little bit at the moment and I have decided to take a little distance for four or five weeks before I make a decision.

"I need to move away a little bit to take perspective on my situation and analyse it in the most objective way possible, even if it is not easy.
"I will then decide where I go from there."
Wenger is hoping to mark his final season by leading Arsenal to a Europa League win - his first European trophy.
The Gunners face Atletico Madrid in the second leg in Spain on Thursday having drawn the first game 1-1 at the Emirates.
