Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta ‘offered deal worth £71m over three years’ to join Chinese Super League side Chongquing

Spaniard had been expected to complete Far East move — and he would earn over £30m on top of salary in wine sales

ANDRES INIESTA has received an offer worth £71million over three years to join Chinese Super League side Chongquing Dangdao Lifan, according to reports in Spain.

The Spaniard recently announced he would leave Barcelona after more than two decades with the club.

It had been rumoured for some time that this would be the midfield icon's last season with the Catalans and that he would join a side in the Chinese Super League.

No destination has so far been confirmed — but report a mega-money offer is on the table for Iniesta to join Chongqing.

His contract would see him earn over £450,000-a-week over three years, which is more than Cristiano Ronaldo currently pockets at Real Madrid.

On top of his basic salary, the report claims the club will give Iniesta back 50 per cent of his image rights, to buy six million bottles of his wine at a price of £27.3m.

However, Iniesta is still mulling it over and does not want to be rushed into a deal.

Chongqing are owned by Jiang Lizhang, who is also the top man at Spanish side Granada, and hired Tony Adams as manager last season.

The Chinese Super League side are managed by Paulo Bento are not typically considered one of the bigger clubs in the country.

Promoted as second tier champions in 2014, they twice finished eighth before a lowly tenth-place finish last term.
