Defiant Patrice Evra backs Sir Alex Ferguson and explains why he’s not tweeted about his old boss
Former Manchester United defender ended tweeted about Sir Alex Ferguson being rushed to hospital
PATRICE EVRA has put fans who criticised him for failing to post about Sir Alex Ferguson in their place.
The former Manchester United star has not been among the many players to tweet messages of support following Ferguson’s brain haemorrhage.
Frenchman Evra is normally first to the punch when it comes to social media.
But not this time - and he used Twitter to explain why.
West Ham full-back Evra posted: 'I read a lot of tweets like Sir Alex is already dead but he is a fighter.
"People ask why I don't tweet but I am lucky enough to have his mobile number so I don't need to tweet or post anything.”
Ferguson fell ill at his Cheshire home on Saturday before being rushed to hospital.
United then released a short statement, saying: “Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.
'AU REVOUR' Arsene Wenger bows out at last home game to cries of 'au revoir' and 'merci'
“The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter.
“We will keep Sir Alex and his loved ones in our thoughts during this time, and we are united in our wish to see him make a comfortable, speedy recovery.”
