Bradford confirm Simon Grayson has left club after missing out on League One play-offs

Former Sunderland manager only joined the Bantams in February 2018 following dismissal from Stadium of Light

BRADFORD confirm Simon Grayson has left the club after they failed to make the League One play-offs.

The ex-Leeds and Preston manager had been in charge since February.

However, having reached the play-off final last season, Bradford finished a lowly 11th and it was decided a change was needed.

Following his departure, Grayson released a statement which read: “After conversations with the owners I have decided to turn down the option to extend my contract.

"This was an extremely difficult decision as I have enjoyed my time at Valley Parade.

"I would like to thank everyone at Bradford City, from the owners to the supporters, who have turned out in their numbers both home and away since I have been manager of their club.

This was Grayson's second job of the campaign, having started the term in charge of Sunderland, who had just been relegated from the Premier League.

However, a dismal start to the season saw them deep in the relegation mire and he was dismissed following a 3-3 draw against Bolton on October 31.

Grayson has also managed Blackpool, Leeds, Huddersfield and Preston — and has been tipped to take over at Scunthorope next season.
