Manchester United and Man City in secret talks with several top clubs over multi-billion Fifa world club championship
Football's world governing body is ready to go head-to-head with Uefa to launch their own version of the Champions League
FIFA are going up against Uefa by trying to rival the Champions League with a multi-billion deal to launch a world club championship.
It is believed seven major clubs, including the two Manchester sides, have held secret meetings with Fifa chiefs.
a meeting took place on Wednesday over plans to form a brand new competition, code-named "Project Trophy".
Juventus, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the other European giants involved in discussions.
Each club has a massive global audience and boast revenues of over £3billion for 2017.
Fifa are trying to find new ways to rake in more money after falling behind rivals Uefa when it comes to revenue.
While the controversial organisation owns the World Cup, it is understood that Uefa pocket £11bn over four years, three times more than Fifa.
But talks are set to bring tensions among other clubs such as Champions League finalists Real Madrid and Liverpool, who were not involved in initial discussions.

In April it was revealed that Fifa president Gianni Infantino was offered £18.5bn over 12-years to revitalise the Club World Cup and create a national team competition to replace the Confederations Cup.
The proposal suggests that the Club World Cup would be played in June or July every four years and have 12 European teams, four from South America, two places each from Africa, Asia and North America, one from the host country and one from a play-off between clubs from South America and Oceania.
