Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan ‘wanted by Inter Milan’ if they make Champions League
Nerazzurri face last day 'play-off' against Euro rivals Lazio, which will determine how ambitious they can be this summer
INTER MILAN will make a move for Ilkay Gundogan if they qualify for the Champions League, according to reports in Italy.
After an incredibly inconsistent 2018, fifth-place Nerazzurri's entire season rests on a final day clash at Lazio, who are a place and three points above them.
The German, 27, may have an uncertain future at the Etihad, with rumours Pep Guardiola is trying to bring in Napoli playmaker Jorginho.
Regardless, the transaction would certainly be expensive for Inter, which is why only Champions League qualification would put them in a financial state to even consider the deal.
Gundogan has made 48 appearances in all competitions for the Premier League champions this season, scoring six goals.
His four Premier League strikes have come against Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United, with two more in the 4-0 drubbing of Basle in the Champions League last-16 first leg.

Failure to land Gundogan would see Inter turn their attentions to Mateo Kovacic, who they sold to Real Madrid in 2015.
Arturo Vidal, Kevin Strootman, William Carvalho and Adrien Rabiot are other potential candidates for the middle of the park.
