Juventus ‘to move for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic’ if Liverpool sign Sami Khedira

JUVENTUS will turn their attention to signing Mateo Kovacic should they lose Sami Khedira to Liverpool, according to reports.

The Reds are among the leading candidates to sign the experienced German, who recently expressed his desire to play in the Premier League.

Massimiliano Allegri is understood to be keen on an overhaul in midfield this summer, as he looks to take Juventus' domestic dominance to the Champions League.

And report that he is targeting Kovacic, 24, as a potential replacement for Khedira.

Kovacic has previous in Serie A, having  joined Inter Milan in 2013, where he arrived with a a huge reputation.

However, the club was forced to sell him onto Real Madrid two years later to ensure they complied with Uefa's Financial Fair Play regulations.

Despite remaining an important part of Zinedine Zidane's squad, Kovacic has never been a first team regular and may be keen to move in order to earn more starts.

He failed to make the squad for the 2016 Champions League final and was an unused sub 12 months later.

Khedira, who joined Juventus from Real Madrid the same summer Los Blancos signed Kovacic, appears almost certain to leave the Allianz Stadium.

He recently admitted: "The Premier League has always interested me. Winning a trophy there would complete my collection."
