Tottenham want Wilmar Barrios from Boca Juniors as Mauricio Pochettino prepares to make £25million summer bid

Boss is ready to freshen up his squad ahead of Tottenham's move to Wembley and believes Barrios would be a great addition

SPURS boss Mauricio Pochettino has put Colombian midfield enforcer Wilmar Barrios on his summer hit-list.

Poch wants a new defensive shield for his back four and plans to watch Boca Juniors star Barrios at the World Cup finals.

Tottenham are plotting a £25m bid for midfield ace Wilmar Barrios

He has already been looking at Barrios, who plays in his native Argentina, and checked on him ahead of a potential £25million swoop.

Barrios, 24, has broken into the Colombia side and gone under the radar of most European clubs, joining Boca instead when he left his country two seasons ago.

The tough competitor can also play and would fit into Pochettino’s plans.

He would also help Davinson Sanchez, the 21-year-old Colombian centre-half Poch has put so much faith in.

The Tottenham chief is planning for signings despite dropping hints that he is unsettled at the club. And the cost of the Barrios deal should not scare chairman Daniel Levy either.

Tottenham could move out a midfielder or two during the summer.

Victor Wanyama has toiled to stay fit and sharp, while there could even be interest in England star Eric Dier.

Poch knows he needs to freshen his squad and Barrios would be a good addition if the price can be agreed.
