Barcelona ‘planning shock bid for Tottenham wonderkid Reo Griffiths next month’

Teenage striker can be poached by clubs from abroad for minimal compensation when he turns 18

BARCELONA want to poach Tottenham wonderkid Reo Griffiths this summer, according to reports.

The highly-rated striker turns 18 on June 27 and can be lured abroad for minimal compensation compared to English rivals.

Spurs chiefs want to get Griffiths to sign a new deal but the claims Barca are ready to make a move.

Their report adds that their pursuit comes in retaliation to interest in academy star Ricard Puig, 18, from the North Londoners.

Griffiths arrived at Spurs from Leyton Orient in 2016 and has been rapidly developing.

He scored 34 goals this season - including four against Arsenal, where he also set up three in a 9-0 hammering.

Tottenham have already signed Kyle Walker-Peters, Davinson Sanchez, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Harry Winks to extended deals, although Keanen Bennetts quit for Borussia Monchengladbach.

But they could face a struggle to keep hold of Griffiths in the face of interest from Spain.

But hopes were raised he would commit to Spurs when Griffiths as begged to sign a new deal by an Instagram follower.
