PAUL POGBA has used his break from the end of the season and the start of the World Cup to make a religious pilgrimage to Mecca.
Manchester United star Pogba has been given a week off before linking up with the France squad looking to triumph at Russia 2018.
And the midfielder made perfect use of the time by making Hajj - the trip Muslims make to the holy city of Mecca.
Pogba, 25, shared a video of himself on his social media as he joined millions of followers in Saudi Arabia on their journey during Ramadan.
Pogba said: "Only the person that comes here would understand the feeling.
"So I hope the people that have never have been here yet will do one day.
"Beautiful place. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. And the feeling, I cannot even explain to you."
Pogba made a similar trip last year, when he journeyed to Mecca just days after United had won the Europa League by beating Ajax in the final.
There was no such trophy to end the campaign this time round, with United falling to a 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.
Now the midfielder will look to recharge his batteries ahead of playing a leading role for France at the World Cup next month.
Manager Didier Deschamps has named a strong squad for the tournament in Russia, with many predicting they will go on to become world champions.
But Pogba links up with his country on the back of a difficult season in which his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho appeared strained at times.
The midfielder struggled to produce his best form in the second half of the season, and even found himself axed by Mourinho.
But despite concerns over his long-term future at Old Trafford, Pogba is likely to remain at the club as United prepare to spend big this summer in an attempt to close the gap on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.
