Goalkeeper apologises to Reds fans for his nightmare display as Real Madrid were crowned European champions after a 3-1 win
LORIS KARIUS has broken his silence on his nightmare Champions League final - and apologised to Liverpool fans for breaking their hearts.
Karius endured a horror-show in Kiev as he gifted two goals to allow Real Madrid to win 3-1 and be crowned European champions.
The 24-year-old was in tears on the pitch at the final whistle, and had to be consoled be Real players as his Liverpool team-mates stayed away.
But the German has posted an emotional message on his social media to say sorry to the supporters.
Karius said: "Haven’t really slept until now... the scenes are still running through my head again and again.
"I'm infinitely sorry to my teammates, for you fans, and for all the staff.
"I know that I messed it up with the two mistakes and let you all down.
"As I said I'd just like to turn back the time but that's not possible.

"I don't take that for granted and once again it showed me what a big family we are. Thank you and we will come back stronger."
Karius has to somehow manage to lift himself from the personal misery of his experience in Kiev, when his big night suddenly turned into a nightmare.
He gifted Real the lead when he threw the ball against the knee of Karim Benzema, and it trickled into the empty net in front of a stunned stadium.
And he was again at fault to end Liverpool's hopes of forcing extra time when he allowed a Gareth Bale shot straight at him to squirm from his grasp and over the line.
