Old Trafford chief Jose Mourinho has won his battle to sign the 25-year-old star, who is considered to be suitable replacement for the retiring Michael Carrick
MANCHESTER UNITED will complete the signing of Fred next week.
SunSport understands the Brazilian midfielder will be signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth up to £52million, including add-ons.
United chief Jose Mourinho has won his battle to sign the 25-year-old star, who is considered to be suitable replacement for the retiring Michael Carrick.
Mourinho was adamant the transfer should be completed before he jetted off to cover the World Cup in Russia as a TV pundit.
It is also a coup for Mourinho to get the highly-rated player off the hands of rivals City.
City boss Pep Guardiola has been a long admirer of Fred and saw him as a potential successor for Fernandinho at the Prem champions.
Fred is with the Brazil squad which is preparing to win a sixth World Cup this summer.
He is letting his representatives thrash out his future while he dedicates his time to the Russia tournament.
Fred said: "I am focused solely on the World Cup. My agents are taking care of this."
He added: "It's an honour to be on the radar of great European coaches.
