Wolves ‘in talks with Valencia over £35m move for Manchester United target Joao Cancelo’
WOLVES are pushing to sign Valencia defender Joao Cancelo, according to reports.
The full-back spent last season on loan at Inter Milan was being tracked by Manchester United and Juventus.
Cancelo,24, is normally a right-back but can operate on the left and it looked as if the defender would extend his stay at the San Siro.
But Inter boss Luciano Spalletti has gone cold on a permanent £30million deal agreed when the Portuguese star arrived on loan due to Financial Fair Play constraints.
With United close to landing his fellow countryman Diogo Dalot, journalist says the Premier League new boys have stepped in as they look make an impact in the top flight next season.
Wolves, backed by mega-rich owners Fosun International are now in talks with parent club Valencia after lodging a £35million bid.
Boss Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to add quality to his squad and to the list of Portuguese stars at Molineux.
Landing Cancelo will be seen as a massive coup for the Black Country side who have been linked with big name players like Jack Wilshere and AC Milan forward Andre Silva.

Personal terms should not be an issue as Cancelo is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes who advises Wolves on transfers.
If the deal goes through, Wolves will smash their club transfer record fee of £15.8m shelled out to Porto for Ruben Neves by nearly £20m.
